cryptobros are fiat earthers
on this day, may we all have the unbridled confidence of a react framework author spinning almost 10 years of measured and data-backed criticism into an “I was never wrong” revolutionary new architecture for the web
what are the odds that in the **same week** the creator of next.js would downplay SPA and my uncle would admit that there is a curvature to the earth

For everyone that uses GitHub Actions to run automated tests on a library that uses the `sharp` image processing module WITH the `ava` JS test runner in Node…
For *all* of those people that are doing that exact combination of things—make sure you run ava with `--no-worker-threads` or it will fail with a non-descriptive exitCode error message without any more information.

Whew, looks like Node Weekly has confused Netlify and Vercel in its latest post mentioning Eleventy’s new release.
I’ve sent an email to the Cooperpress Editorial Team—hope it gets corrected soon (as much as an email newsletter can?)

New on the blog: The Magical #Eleventy v2.0.0-beta.1 Release
I used so many words to say “mo’ money mo’ breaking changes”
I wonder if there is a relationship between an open source project’s major release velocity (and consequently, how many breaking changes it dispenses) and the project’s funding.

https://fosstodon.org/@webpro/109717768907972230 has informed me that comparing two distinct pre-release tags is… alphabetic.
I don’t agree with this but at least I understand it now 😅
semver.satisfies("2.0.0-canary.1", ">=2.0.0-beta")
> true
semver.satisfies("2.0.0-beta.1", ">=2.0.0-canary")
> false
but… why?
the release is out which means that I can now start working through my very lengthy email backlog

JavaScript, Community
Having some *thoughts* about those State of JS 2022 results.
Might be time for a blog post… 😩
Whew. https://css-tricks.com/has-is-an-unforgiving-selector/
1. jQuery had its own CSS selector syntax for :has(), which was fine because jQuery pre-dated any standardized querySelector
2. querySelector was standardized (largely because of the popularity of jQuery) and jQuery moved to use it—though jQuery still maintained this non-standard selector syntax
3. :has() becomes a real standardized thing but conflicts with jQuery’s version
4. Official :has() has to change to not break the web
I’m feeling dizzy.

Without exaggeration, my number one complaint (for years!) with Firefox as my daily driver was that there was no icon to show minimized windows in the Window menu on Mac. I often accidentally hide windows with ⌘+M and it was annoying to find those to reopen 😅

Today I’m experimenting with the @eleventy Serverless plugin using the programmatic API for incremental builds (and the new ignore initial feature) to make `collections` work in serverless mode without additional configuration.
If this works I will be able to delete this entire section of the docs 😅 https://www.11ty.dev/docs/plugins/serverless/#re-use-build-time-collections
