I think software should be good

if you’re going to paste multiple paragraphs of AI slop at least have the decency to make AI summarize it down to two words or less first (preferably zero words if possible)
WebC is a hard project to work on. It was the last thing I shipped before getting laid off a few years ago and unfortunately the project still reminds me of that. Returning to it and shipping a new version feels like some kinda growth and I’m happy about that.
Finally, it has happened: WebC has received some updates and a beta release of v0.12 is now available!
npm install @11ty/eleventy-plugin-webc@beta
Make sure you review the release notes for WebC v0.12 as there are some breaking changes with webc:type and webc:setup: github.com/11ty/webc/re...

Added a lot more detail to my /uses/ timeline, including software/hardware/consumer gear. Interesting to see what stuff has lasted the longest.

I suppose it’s a good thing I enjoy writing code 😅
The amount of code I’ve had to write because Node’s vm.Module isn’t stable 😭😭😭😭

let’s watch as folks ask why the non-deterministic tools don’t return deterministic outputs over and over again — this is fun — we’re having fun and being productive
I’ve just read the term “semi-deterministic” 😅
folks keep asking why the non-deterministic tools aren’t returning deterministic outputs, over and over again

The most underrated code comment continues to be:
// Start here tomorrow
“sometimes its ok to just… not support things”
a common thing i've run into this week:
packages which exhaustively try to cover every possible edge case. but it turns out almost no consumer calls it in a way that would hit those cases
some are 1/4 of the size when you cut those out. sometimes its ok to just... not support things
I anthropomorphized my pet rock to such a degree that we are now both hallucinating its sentience

One more entry in my epic date parsing adventure. I’ve shipped a breaking change to this library to ensure that all valid date strings supported in Eleventy v4 will be RFC 9557-compatible, ensuring friendliness with the standardized Temporal APIs coming to a JavaScript runtime near you. Our full test suite runs against both!
