there needs to be a Web Performance Razzie Award for corporate websites
anyway it should be interesting to see this category fill in with data today https://www.speedlify.dev/group/builders/
our tool helps *you* make fast websites — this very slow marketing website we built with it will explain everything
One more fun bit here: speedlify measures speedlify (and measured it before and after the move to speedlify2!)
This version takes great care to maintain backwards compatibility with any existing <speedlify-score> components using speedlify.dev as their upstream data source. Let me know if you see issues!
A little sneak peek at some very big updates to `speedlify` (just kidding they’re live): https://www.speedlify.dev/
Decoupled measure step from rank so that it runs continuously & incrementally. Ranks sites on CWV field data and Axe violations.
This is the new home for the @11ty Leaderboards.
Did Netlify change their default trailing slashes (Pretty URLs) configuration? I’m not seeing canonical redirects to trailing slashes (which I want) any more.
Wrote this up a few years ago (is this info is wrong now?): https://www.zachleat.com/web/trailing-slash/
Proposal: should we add a new `parseDateString` universal filter?

Happy with these results! Fewer duplicate feeds, please!

If you rely on YAML front matter timestamp (date) parsing in your projects (outside of the special `date` property that informs content dates), you’ll want to review this `canary` breaking change: https://github.com/11ty/buildawesome/issues/4333
Please weigh in with feedback!

New release: Import v2.0.1
Bug fix for <code> import as Markdown, dependency upgrades, Node minimum bump to v20.19+
has anyone made a website that emulates touching grass
Did you know? Eleventy v3 shipped with JavaScript front matter built-in (no plugin or extra config needed!)
Use ---js to enable it. Easier than a separate JavaScript data file!

Did you know? Your robots.txt, 404 page, or sitemap.xml don't need to be files in your project. Virtual templates let you generate any output file via config (or plugin).

<hyper-card> v2.0.3 shipped with new glow color option thanks to @chriskirknielsen!
New release: Image Color v2.0.0
Fetch colors from any image for theming! Makes use of the new Image v7 release internally.
New v2.0.0 release of our Browsersync plugin (for folks not using the newer Dev Server): https://github.com/11ty/eleventy-server-browsersync/releases/tag/v2.0.0
https://unsung.aresluna.org/seeing-like-a-state/ by @mwichary has lovely examples highlighting usability issues with toggle controls.
Is the toggle on when the circle is on the left or right? How about when the background is dark? …in a dark mode theme?
I might suggest text that says On/Off 🫣

I was curious what the red/yellow cards used in the World Cup would look like with color vision deficiency (Protanopia shown).
Seems like a player could be shown a card and not know the color. Does it matter with sufficient contrast and only 2 cards?
Could be easily solved by adding a symbol to the card or by having two different shapes.

can we ban social media for politicians
Love to see all the long-term maintenance-minded folks on this platform!
The newest version of my preferred test runner requires Node 22+ and my package supports Node 18+.
Do I leave it on an old/outdated/insecure version of the test runner? Do I upgrade and stop testing on Node 18 and 20? Do I need to ship a breaking change to bump my package’s Node minimum? Or do I burn the whole suite down and use Node’s built-in test runner?
