LinkedIn’s API is absolutely wild — how many hoops do I gotta jump through to get an API key that posts to my LinkedIn page?

@zachleat Sir, if you use the API you're not engaging with *content* and don't you want to engage with *content*?
@cthos I am not content with content I only aspire to become pure content and ascend to the role of content creator
@tunafishtiger @zachleat Imagine all the people, posting on LinkedIn
@zachleat Have they gone with the [Contact Sales] approach to APIs?
@AlesandroOrtiz I believe it’s more AWS style (endless configuration) 😅
@zachleat At least it's not SOAP. Right? Riiiight?
which is ironic given how many posts on linkedin feel written by bots
oof *yes*
I can promise that I will write the post content, if that helps them 😅
I was just thinking about looking into this today, but for some reason assumed it would be horrible. Would love to be able to syndicate there without actually having to open the damned thing.
I ended up using Buffer and the Buffer API as a workaround 😅
Seems interesting, I'll have a look-see. Thanks!
Cheapest Linkedin API for you - apiserpent.com/linkedin-api
joke's on you for having a LinkedIn page ;)
I am on this earth to do BUSINESS™
I wonder if sifa.id built on top of bsky’s @atproto.com will take off…
I just played around with it, seems like a great BUSINESS™ layer on top of atproto
I regret to inform you that BUSINESS LAYER™ is already a registered trademark of my client's software offering. Lawyers from my firm will be in touch.
if I have the trademark on BUSINESS and your client has the trademark on BUSINESS LAYER — I like my legal chances
wish I had enough knuckles for a BUSINES SLAYER tattoo
@zachleat Yes. Pretty hard to do what you want on LinkedIn, instead of a predefined user flow you have to follow. You can post a URL. Or. You can post an image. Okay. You can attach image for a portfolio item. But. You can not attach the project URL. No sense at all. Microsoft product.
They need you to go to LinkedIn to get inspired by absolute slop posts. It's for your own good.
oh no
Did they open the API to the public again? They closed it over a decade ago, only open for paying members.
I haven’t seen anything about fees, fwiw
I believe it's only for Company pages rather than Individual...I was looking around and that was the only thing I could gather of where it lays.
But not sure. Haven't looked around in a couple of months
And even companies had (still have?) to justify their whole business model was not based on the LinkedIn API.
In 2014, I developed a tool that analyzed profiles and suggested improvements based on sentiment, content, and similar profiles. Had to kill the project after the changes in API access 🙁
😕—indeed.

reported and blocked 🤷

i can barely figure it out from the actual website
Some API docs feel like they’re trying to politely talk you out of using the API lol
@zachleat you don’t have an AI-Agent for this? 😎
@hlux an agent to bypass Linkedin’s API workflow and approval requirements? I’m just trying to get a token here 🤝
Which Microsoft acquisition resulted in a better product?
