You can tell a whole lot about a company by the buttons they show on their cookie banner:
🚩 Allow All / Advanced Options
✅ Allow All / Only Necessary
✅👑🏆🥇 We don’t have a cookie banner because we don’t track you

@zachleat I have had issues telling clients that if you don't track we don't need the banner lol
@deebloo cookie banner as comfort object 😅
@zachleat GA is usually the primary culprit.
@deebloo well wait how do you use GA without tracking 😅
@zachleat sorry I meant that is usually the point where we HAVE to add the banner.
@zachleat @deebloo well, obviously, you can't use GA without some tracking -- that's what analytics *is* -- but you can improve it for users, which is why I wrote https://web.dev/learn/privacy/third-parties/#when-embedding-analytics-scripts :-)

@zachleat And my absolute hate case:
🤬 We use cookies. By proceeding to use the site you consentWhere is the shame register we can report these to?
@kupfers I usually call local emergency services
@zachleat Every time I click “I decline cookies because I’m human garbage” I start to internalize it. Really tough.
