alright so beds come in a bunch of sizes: twin, queen, king, and california king—all I’m saying is that there needs to be a short king size too

@zachleat Isn’t that like a twin rotated 90 degrees?
@kduke the mattress is the first problem, the frame is the next
@zachleat Can we also have a tall king size? Mostly for winter, in my case.
@Meyerweb I think we only get that by exploiting the workers—by hanging on to our dated imperialistic dogma which perpetuates the economic and social differences in our society!!

@zachleat Just turn the Queen sized mattress sideways, Zach. 5 feet long, 6½ feet wide. 😁
(Also, looking up mattress sizes (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bed_size#North_America) just makes me angry. Why isn't a king bed just square? 3½ inches longer than wide? Who picked that? Clearly not someone who's ever had to put a fitted sheet on a bed!!!)
@AmeliaBR @zachleat ok, that size is just stupid and literally designed to make everyone in the whole US put the sheets on wrong. I didn't realise this (king-size beds are 5ft x 6ft6 in the UK, which is apparently queen-size elsewhere? not sure if this changes now we have a king and the queen died). You would think "don't make a thing tantalisingly nearly square" ought to be a rule for everything made anywhere
