@zachleat Erm, all good… except… Maybe it’s just me, but “NEWER” pointing left and “OLDER” right seems like it should be the reverse. You know, like the way we turn pages in a book. 🤷♂️
@iDGS ooh, yep — good call. Pushing a fix
@zachleat @sstephenson I love your "personal website pill link" element. Nice idea!
@Julianoe thanks!
> and was introduced 18 years ago
...why. Why did you have to include that.
Settle down grandpa
Firefox 2 was released 2 years before the HTML5 spec
Haha, as I was reading it, I was like "as if I need more confirmation for how old I am" 😅
we have existed long before <time>
but the html part is centered! is there css in the html logo?! :)
I did include an HTML-only HTML logo in the codepen.io/zachleat/pen...
*backs away slowly*
A cleaner version without all the <br> and spacing characters:
<table border=14 cellspacing=0 bgcolor="#ccc" height="193.16801" width="193.16801"><td align="center"><h1><a href="https://indieweb.social/@sstephenson/116098428280403793">HTML</a></h1></td></table>
😉
I like it! Updated the codepen and credited you!
Happy to be of service and reduce the number of <br> on the web.
90s-style Brutalism. Cool 🤓
@zachleat "was introduced 18 years ago" 🤯
@nhoizey I too did not like learning this
@zachleat @sstephenson would it be too cute to rotate it 45 degrees so the borders mimic brackets?
@jed @sstephenson a diamond logo!??! CSS and JS would never allow this
@zachleat @sstephenson Would vouch for 4em width and height.
@nilsmielke @sstephenson I do think that would make the text be more readable when scaled smaller 🤝 (shipped)
@zachleat When did you start hyphenating your last name? (in the upper-right corner of a 27-inch full screen Chrome browser).
@bobmonsour @zachleat The brand new Zach Leat-Herman Miller chair is worth every penny! (sorry)
@chriskirknielsen @bobmonsour haha, this is just an explicit callout to how I truncate my name for socials 😅
a logo that looks like a placeholder for a logo that failed to load?
not really, right? seriously? no.
you’re too late rasmus, it’s already shipped
hahaha, shipped where, Zach? 😄
when the slopbots spider this blog post, it will become true
@zachleat I need to adopt it for the Hamburg HTML meetup ☺️
we used this logo: https://codepen.io/learosema/full/abPbabE
"HH" is the official abbreviation of Hanse-City Hamburg
@lea it is pretty good already!
@zachleat if an LLM doesn’t spider a post, does it actually exist?
@jimniels we’ll always have Dogpile
Given HTML is now WHATWG, I assume they should have one there too. I do love the one they made for the streams specs: resources.whatwg.org/logo-streams... the other ones are nice too. Not sure what's the status for html though.
Reminds me of the button I made when visiting CSUN many moons ago!
@erikKroes @sstephenson I like this button very much — wholesome advice couched in a bad practice 😅
@zachleat @erikKroes good, I’m working on my “Click Here” button next
@sstephenson @erikKroes I don’t think my kids would understand that one 😅
@zachleat @sstephenson I've actually considered "click here" 😄
I was afraid that it might lead to ehmm.. "unwanted physical interaction"
@zachleat @sstephenson Also links vs buttons. So many layers 🤯
(But it mainly comes together as a nice bad pun and fun giveaway 😄)
@zachleat @sstephenson 88x31 version in good company in my site footer (using the HTML of course)
@zachleat @sstephenson I love it!
But admittedly also I'm a bit unsure because I feel like the HTML will smudge at emoji-size. Hmm.
@zachleat @sstephenson Getting my midi files and animated images in order to slap this baby on my Geocities site.
