for my non-USA friends: do you understand the concept of “buffet pants”

@zachleat mfw I'm American and
@rockerest this concept may be uniquely midwestern

@bonkers it’s jimmy not warren (kidding it’s neither)
@zachleat oh. Ive never heard it before, but i can guess: wearing loose trousers when planning to dine at an all-you-can-eat place?
@leadegroot your pattern recognition game is good

@zachleat Certainly. They are pants you wore to dinner, and that acquired so many bits food on them that at night they became a veritable buffet for the mice.
See? Easy.
@ppk close! 😅
@zachleat They're the kind of pants I would like to be wearing when I get my blood pressure checks, but I always forget and so blame 'white coat hypertension' instead of my ability to plan ahead.
(Psychologically I get no reward after the exam, so never feel it's appropriate to pig out at a buffet damnit).
@bazbt3 it is appropriate to treat yourself 🙌🏻

@zachleat so is that what "buffet pants" mean? 😅
@zachleat I misread as buffet plants. Assumed it was some sort of houseplant to help with the mental aftermath of a buffet. Or is it where they make the buffet pants?
@zachleat less belt and more elasticated waistband?
@mpbarlow why has no one invented elasticated belts
