The first release of Internet Explorer (1995) is closer in time to the Apollo 11 moon landing (1969) than now.

@zachleat First of all, how dare you
@zachleat I should add the IE thing to https://www.kryogenix.org/days/2016/08/11/feeling-old/ :)
@zachleat I'm not old, you're old
@cferdinandi I’m old, you’re not old
@zachleat I recently realized: My birth is closer in time to the end of WW II than now.
@matthiasott oh so this is what my own medicine tastes like
…I don’t like it
@matthiasott @zachleat holy shit
In high school, I had a class on US History since 1945. And now I realize I've lived through most of that topic 😳
@matthiasott @zachleat ohhhh shit.
@matthiasott @zachleat [tries to erase the thread from his mind, looks away, but not for long: he’s doomed]
@matthiasott @zachleat Wait a sec... the math on that... 26...
ah, fuck.
@matthiasott @zachleat I refuse to do that math. Simply never will happen
@matthiasott @zachleat AAAAAAAAAAAAA
My brain did the math without me asking

@simoncox amazing!!
@zachleat next stop: Internet Explorer *on* the moon!
@keithjgrant @zachleat yet here we are
(Edit: to be clear, not *your* websites. Just a general state of the world)
@zachleat Hah! "This moon best traveled to in Apollo 11"
In the Apollo program, they achieved amazing feats with startlingly little technology.
In Internet Explorer, just the opposite happened.
@MegaMichelle @zachleat Also landing on the moon had never been done before Apollo; Explorer was just a facsimile of someone else's trailblazing.
@zachleat ...is it something I said, or...?
@zachleat If it's any consolation, the moon landing was closer in time to the Lascaux cave paintings than the release of IE is to the eventual death of the sun.
@zachleat Get out of here with that nonsense!
And here I was having such a good day.
@zachleat
New to the Internet? 👉 Click here.@tuckerteague I miss those huge animated loaders browsers used to have
@zachleat My favourite is Cleopatra lived closer to the invention of the iPhone than the building of the pyramids.
@zachleat and still remember it superceding NCSA Mosaic and Netscape Navigator on our uni lab computers.
And also how dare you.
@zachleat what about NCSA Mosaic?
@zachleat This has been true for at least a year.
@aweatherall I only just had this thought yesterday and I am sorry for not thinking it earlier
@zachleat I forgive you :)
@zachleat Well, that’s seems like crazy talk, but I guess it’s not.
