   @zachleat my colleague Kate and I love your posts, and I enjoy this one in particular. Any chance we can get you to come chat with us on our video/podcast about this in 2024? We would love to hear your take on front end frameworks / development. :)

      @rstephensme yes!! I am so sorry I haven’t followed up—my email etiquette is atrociously bad, let’s schedule it!

   @zachleat Also, there should be some distinction between no dependency web components and dependency web components.

   Using Lit? We are not the same!

      @heydon yeah that’s fair! maybe the next step in the chain since react is like 20 lits 😅

      @heydon @zachleat Sure lit is a single (small) dependency but it doesn’t require a build step.

         @triangulum @heydon I think Heydon was making a slightly different point about dependencies (not build steps)

            @zachleat @triangulum 👍

   look, you aren’t *allowed* to add a build step to web components because the specious arguments against web components fall apart if you do that

   1. Pär Björklund 11 hr later

      @zachleat wait what? Is no build an argument against web components?

      1. Zach Leatherman 17 hr later

         @Paxxi this is alluding to the SSR argument

         1. Pär Björklund 18 hr later

            @zachleat ahh ok, that at least makes a bit more sense
