Kinda wish that <input type="search"> had an option to submit a value into the browser’s native page search (⌘+F).
A form control that aliases on-page search to get a bunch of browser functionality for-free.

@zachleat do you know about ⌘E
@zachleat Do you mean if someone were to use ⌘+F then they would get the websites full site search? i can see that being horribly abused by companies wanting to show you all the results on the site rather than just on that page!
@simoncox naw—I mean that typing into a specific opt-in search form control on the page would alias to ⌘+F and bring up the browser on-page native search

@simoncox yeah, maybe! Feels less clunky than saying “Use ⌘+F to search!”
@simevidas @simoncox well I’d prefer a declarative method but I would accept this 😅

@zachleat I can’t help but think this would be used 99.9% for evil.
@zachleat Could also be a JS API, which would only require a simple web component to wire up to an input.
@zachleat like some kind of search-asaurus
@peruvianidol I like where this is going
