which great american novel has the best book cover

@zachleat since you're asking this here and not in bluesky I'm assuming you don't want things to devolve into animorphs. :)
I've always been partial to the original blue Catch-22 cover and I have a soft spot for the peacock feather version of the Pride and Prejudice cover. (though I guess Jane Austen isn't a great american novel...)
@rstephensme I was trying to make a joke about judging books by their covers but I failed *runs away*
@zachleat : Good question! Got me thinking on this one… :ablobcatangel:
Over time many of the greats have had a collection of covers but maintained some consistency in visual theme. I checked a few like Catch 22, The Grapes of Wrath and To Kill a Mockingbird.
Being a fellow Font-Hound, I’m intrigued how The Great Gatsby’s common visual theme is often maintained in the title’s type rather than the imagery.

(ya can't judge 'em this way of course but, I will say, I have better memories of these covers than the plot of either, a quarter-century on)
