full stack developers have taken front-end web development hostage

@zachleat I’ve only gotten in trouble twice for telling senior full stack developers that they had the front end skills of an intern.
@ardouglass we both know the “full” in full stack means 50% 😅
@zachleat @ardouglass “Glass half full stack developer” …is that something?
@flori @ardouglass 100%… wait
@zachleat you think? People deploying fifty megs of JavaScript to every person’s phone are being displaced by people writing back end code which deploys fifty megs of JavaScript instead? While HTML and CSS designers and developers continue crying until they die from dehydration?
@zachleat Gonna have to explain that.
@zachleat Preach!
@zachleat full of shit developers
@zachleat it probably depends on your needs. In some settings the broader picture and capability to take from a wider variety of tasks from the board are very valuable, and the damage done by not being 100% pro is acceptable. In other situations, you'd want the perfect optimizations delivered by specialists.
@zachleat you mean head hunters contacting people, dropping a colon of buzzword JS frameworks and call the job frontend development while searching for back-of-the-frondend developers?
