@jenn Hello hi yes I am really sorry to cold DM you but I am kinda shopping around and wondering if y’all have anything that might be a good fit? Seems like Fastly has been pretty good to Glitch so far!

@zachleat hiii don’t apologize, tell me what kind of role you’re looking for - what are your hopes and dreams and dealbreakers. fastly had been good to us, yes - almost one year here already!
@jenn what a good question! My hope is to find a place that is mutually beneficial to (in some capacity) continue work and maintenance on Eleventy—I’ve always appreciated how kind Glitch is to Eleventy! I think the most relevant dealbreakers to discuss at this stage would be around remote work (I very much like this) and frequency of travel (I wouldn’t love a lot of travel).
@zachleat so i was out of the office last week and am back, i had emailed anil asking about positions and it ended up in spam (rude!) - i am not sure we have anything open right now but i would love to get all three of us on a call to see if we can help find something, also anil would like to meet you - i don’t think y’all have had a convo off social, yeah? what’s your email, i can set something up!
@jenn yeah! I believe we have only conversed while being extremely online
email is zach@zachleat.com
I appreciate y’all!
@jenn well I did it—I applied for a Fastly role (specifically this one https://www.fastly.com/about/jobs/apply/?gh_jid=5102301). I do also want to say that I really appreciate you setting up that call with Anil, even if we don’t end up working together! 🙌🏻
@zachleat awesome, i’ll put a referral in in the morning! and absolutely my pleasure, friend
@jenn unfortunately I got bot-denied because I don’t currently live in one of the Fastly cities.
The wording of this app question seems leaky: “Are you currently residing within a commutable distance to a Fastly office (Denver, San Francisco, New York) AND willing to work on site as required?”
If y’all aren’t hiring remote candidates (as the denial email states), you’ll lose candidates that are willing to move for the right position.
Appreciate your help nonetheless!
@zachleat ugh yeah I’ll let the folks responsible for this know! 🥴
@zachleat i complained to anil and he just so happens to be sitting next to our chief people officer lol so hopefully they plug that leak and also make it clear if the location truly matters (imho it doesn’t but i don’t make the rules here, just the magic)
@jenn ah yeah, I completely understand. I did talk it over with my partner before applying and we were open to relocating to Denver if everything lined up—but I also wasn’t able to answer that question honestly without getting denied 🫣
If it’s intentional that Fastly doesn’t want to deal with internal-US relocation, then 100% no harm no foul!
