Now that yesterday’s dust has settled—we recognize that create-next-app does in fact default to TypeScript and Tailwind, right?

@zachleat dumb. Stupid. I had a conversation today with people that considered tailwind their target future stack.
Like I don’t have the power to fight this any more. JavaScript is eating the world and JavaScript bros™️ don’t like css because it’s for women™️ and because it’s gay™️
I think there is a place for tailwind in the ecosystem but it does feel like they would rather swallow CSS whole than co-exist peacefully 🫠
@zachleat @nachtfunke I'm not particularly plugged into the JS discourse, but my recollection is early on they were really pulling the reins on it, saying this really exists for these specific use cases. But they naturally wanted to monetize and that means holding the attention of a certain kind of personality.
The irony - to me - is that I learned *so much* about CSS from watching Adam's early "build with Tailwind" streams.
@zachleat absolutely
@zachleat the more I think about it, the more I see CSS‘ unique quality, which makes it unparalleled to work with, is what is at the same time the reason for why it is considered almost incompatible with industrial grade programming, expressed by JavaScripts role on the web.
CSS is made for humans, authors. Everyday people can work with it. I’ve taught absolute beginners CSS and HTML. They immediately got it. CSS is too human centered for Industry.

@zachleat this is the consequence of companies exclusively hiring full stack devs.
@ardouglass I think you’ve hit the nail on the head here
@ardouglass @zachleat Yes and the consequence that a11y assessments are becoming HTML 101.
After input nested in a dozen of div with JS-injected classes to handle focus and hover states, this week I have main nav links being divs with click event, a skip anchor link with no destination.
Question: can you call yourself a web developer if you don't even know how to make links as links are the absolute foundation of the web existence ? 🤷♀️
