   @zachleat @eleventy I wonder if we can coalesce around using bazel in JS. Bazel currently has a lot of warts/not quite ready for primetime.

   But the promise is a language for building, testing, and running all programming languages correctly and efficiently.

   I use esbuild + bazel, for example.

         @escarpment @zachleat @eleventy As a googler who has to use internal Bazel, I wish it return to it's 2010s cave.

         I can see the use for it in a company of 10k+, but it really hampers development speed, and the DX just aint there. Maybe something else that iterates on its values, though.

            @techytacos @zachleat @eleventy What do you think causes the hampering of developer speed? Gazelle can automate much of the management of bazel build files. You could imagine getting to a place where you write your source files and bazel pretty much knows how to build them automatically.
