This comment on the future of create-react-app is a *doozy*, y’all. A reaction blog post might be warranted here 🧐

@zachleat maybe it’s worth adding your thoughts in the GitHub comments? I’d be interested in your thoughts in blog form as well though
@zachleat wow, that was a long discussion, I seem to be missing out.
Can I assume the react team won't merge this because that specific comment seems to be wanting to keep CRA afloat?
@fahru I was only referencing the deep link comment from Dan Abramov, for the record.
@zachleat “The Rise of The React Frameworks” is a Terminator/Meta fanfic title.
(it has come to my attention that Mastodon web interface removes # anchors from the URL in the preview block 😭 so make sure you click the text link)
@zachleat this is where I am after a click on the preview
@nhoizey yeah it’s probably mastodon client-dependent
@zachleat As others are pointing out, it depends on the app.
@timmywil yeah, that makes sense. I am using the official mastodon web interface.
@zachleat Tested it on elk. It's even worse. It cuts off before the `.org` part so the link is a 404.
@zachleat @timmywil Thanks for the heads up!
We just merged a fix by @skryukov. It should be good in canary (main.elk.zone) and will be released in v0.7 soon.

@andrew subscribed—thank you!
@zachleat big Ooof.
@zachleat I used to point and laugh at the chaos my back end teams took to get a Java code base configured and running.
Then I watched us repeat the exact same thing for the front end, each step along the way perfectly reasonable and addressing a very real problem, but the end result still turning into a complete mess.
@keithjgrant it’s not uncommon to see overengineered solutions in our profession—but I do find it very odd that they achieve this level of ubiquity/success/investment!
@zachleat Indeed. Good openness.
"You can use React to build a single button, or you can use it to build an entire app."
You also, like, should NOT use it to build a single button, but that kind of position seems to be always missing from these retrospectives. There's seems to be the underlying "people are losing interest, so let's decide on the end-state of this so we can move to the next thing."
@zachleat They are saying CRA is dead? That didn't last long. I have no love for it, but the toolchain churn is just mind-boggling

@rockerest haha someone else sent me that same exact meme 😅
