         @hejchristian @robb now compare it to github and youtube tabs 😅

            @zachleat @robb Oh too many of those and my system will grind to a halt for sure lol

            (Just in case) my screenshot showing the Memory and CPU usage wasn't to be like "hey this isn't performant" more "i'm a silly boy and look how I've abused the button to spawn in _all_ the emoji" 😅

            1. Zach Leatherman Mastodon 3 hr later

               @hejchristian @robb oh, no worries! it ain’t load time costly but it’s definitely runtime costly 🫣

   @zachleat @fontawesome A great victory for the web! Also, I stared at the demo way too long.

   @zachleat @fontawesome Dude... there's literally a snowflakes icon. Amateur hour. (just kidding)

   @zachleat pleased with how easy it was to sloppily erase parts of the letters in the title here.

   1. Zach Leatherman Mastodon 2 hr later

      @cbirdsong did… did the moon crash into the earth

      1. Cory Birdsong Mastodon 3 hr later

         @zachleat i haven’t seen it, but I assume it did https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moonfall_(film)

7. Zach Leatherman Mastodon 6 hr later

   I should have named it <icon-spring>

   1. westbrook Mastodon 6 hr later

      @zachleat

      const date = new Date();
      const month = date.getMonth();
      let name = 'icon-confusion';
      if (month > 2 && month < 6) {
      name = 'icon-spring';
      } else if (month > 8) {
      name = 'icon-fall';
      }
      customElements.define(name, definition);

      Problem solved??

      1. Zach Leatherman Mastodon 6 hr later

         @westbrook I like seasonally appropriate component names!

      2. Burton Smith Mastodon 14 hr later

         @westbrook @zachleat does this mean the site breaks every couple of months because the tag name changes? It's like a forced acknowledgement.

         1. westbrook Mastodon 20 hr later

            @stuffbreaker @zachleat “Breaks”? The tag either upgrades or it doesn’t. Breaks is for weaker, less capable client side APIs the need far less frequent version management work.

            But, with different names you could put different ones in different places and get seasonally different experiences. Maybe the confusion season includes A LOT more. Maybe fall and spring deserve different icons. Maybe I’m not pushing hard enough?

            The power is yours!

            1. Zach Leatherman Mastodon 1 day later

               @westbrook @stuffbreaker look, I’ve thought about adding a on:time condition to `<is-land>` so maybe on:season makes sense too

                  It would presumably be based on the author's hemisphere, you don't want to request the user's location just to get their hemisphere.
                  @westbrook @stuffbreaker

                  1. westbrook Mastodon 1 day later

                     @cwilcox808 @zachleat @stuffbreaker

                     We'll definitely need to get TC39 onto adding this to Temporal so it can be localized, accessible, and secure!
