Seems to work fine for me on Vivaldi for macOS. What browser are you using?
hmm — not in Vivaldi either, but I tested in Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.
the US site, to be specific
The NL site too, super broken.
The shortcut icon is www.microsoft.com/favicon.ico?v2 and that returns a 200 code but a broken image.
Thanks, y'all! I'll pass this on best I can.
thank you! 😍

to: Satyahey buddy, favicon's broken!
works just fine in Edge for the US and US sites
huh — I’ve tested on multiple computers and that isn’t my experience on Edge either
just tested on a Windows machine — also broken there
Working on my Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs in shipping Edge from the UK (for both US and UK sites); Edge deprecates favicons so I have to click in to the address bar to see it but it's there and on the title bar
I'd guess at a CDN thing
I have Privacy Badger enabled, uBlock Origin and tracking protection set to strict and I still see the favicon - an ad blocker *might* cause problems but I still guess CDN
Doesn't work for me either, www.microsoft.com/favicon.ico returns a clearly broken image file.
This might be a stupid question, but did you check in incognito?
fwiw I tested in plenty of hardware/software/VPN combinations
the problem is that microsoft.com points to www.microsoft.com/favicon.ico?v2 in markup (which is a corrupted icon per multiple image editing tools I tested)
This is more a question for those who have it working.
The favicon is usually cached for a year, so it's displayed for many. Although, it's possible in some countries it's cached at the CDN level and is still being served...
It's fixed for me!

if you’re cold, your icon is (in) cold (storage) — let it inside
(incredible work)
@zachleat ai could fix it
@maxfenton ai could never!!
@zachleat Doesn’t seem to be their favorite icon!
@rauschma this should be called a dislikicon
trying not to read too much into microsoft.com using adobe experience manager
@zachleat they deserve each other
I found original favicon. It was lost on September 4th!
web.archive.org/web/20250903...What's more, the problem isn't related to the tests (at least not the actual testing) or query parameters. On September 3rd, the file with ?v2 was still working. Then either they updated the response of this file, or they simply lost the files.
I don't know why I checked this 😅
good investigation!
Maybe Copilot still trying to fix automatically...
Looks like the favicon is back. Butterfly magic!
it’s fixed! thanks to the folks that escalated my terrible social media bug report
