Added a lot more detail to my /uses/ timeline, including software/hardware/consumer gear. Interesting to see what stuff has lasted the longest.

11ty Mario Kart World league?
how do we do it 👀
11ty spend more time figuring out and systematizing the league than actually playing video games league
I used to work on tournament software let’s build a website to manage the tournament
I have a group of friends with whom we sometimes have to specify if we’re playing the game-game or the spreadsheet of the game tonight.
In short, yeah. Let’s talk features. And of course it should be deployable for all the other people who want to have a Mario Kart World league on an 11ty site.
@zachleat This is awesome
@AnthonyBaker thanks Anthony!
@zachleat I want someone (not me) to make a /uses page with like a WebGL NASCAR vehicle covered in the logos for their stuff.
@ardouglass NASCAR has this sponsorship thing figured out
@zachleat 😯 this is so cool
@exchgr hey, thanks!!
Very cool page, awesome work!
Thanks Erika!
I _love_ the timeline concept
Thanks Daniel! I love seeing how long gear lasts
Gonna be tough to beat my electric razor.
how many years are we talkin’
It's getting a driver's license this year
Incredible!
Now make it a multidimensionally scrolled timeline with x = topics, y = time 😁
no u 😅
@zachleat Just read the post from 2013 where you announce that zachleat.com has moved to Jekyll.
“That being said, if anyone knows of a really good Node.js site generator, please let me know. I’ve tried a bunch of them and haven’t yet found anything as good as Jekyll.”
😍
@nathanbottomley haha that is a wild 12-year-old quote 😅😅😅
@zachleat It’s like a superhero origin story.
@nathanbottomley I had to read it three times before I realized it said hero and not villain 😅
Fastmail and Brother printer is legitness 🥰
both great tools
Nice :) One heart for Macbook Air M1 is in the wrong column, HTH!
Not sure I’m up to the whole task, but computers: 1985 – BBC B – 1992 – Acorn A5000 – 1999 – RiscStation – 2003 – Dell Inspiron 8200 – 2008 – Mac Mini – 2011 – Macbook Air – 2018 – Dell XPS13 – 2022 – Macbook Air M2 –
fixed thank you! Oh yeah I could take those computers back a bit more but the timelines get fuzzier (and more custom 😅)
Yours is delightfully diverse!
:) Like you, I was wondering what current stuff had lasted the longest – had our TV since 2011, I’ve had Flickr since 2007, and hosted websites/domains with Mythic Beasts since 2005!
Flickr is OG! Somehow I’ve never heard of Mythic Beasts though, interesting
@zachleat Awesome! Your SNES is still going strong, huh? I replayed a bunch of games via an emulator a couple of years ago because I couldn’t be bothered to get adapters or TV with old connectors, but my system is in a box somewhere. How are you playing?
@timsev yeah! The Dell 2407WFP monitor listed there from 2007 has Composite inputs (and still works!)
But I’ve also had success with Composite to HDMI adapters too
@zachleat Good collection, except these two: 😅
feedbin -> feedly is my choice
bsky -> twitterStarterPack to /dev/null granted
