is there a way to force an unfollow on bluesky?

block them
I don’t think this actually removes the follow
Hm, I guess that is a distinction I didn't consider.
Is the goal something other than disengaging from them and force-ably disengaging them from your content?
social signals. Blocking is pretty harsh, where removing a follow gently removes you from their content.
Makes sense. As someone not usually targeted I am pretty sure my experience is not very valuable here, but I tend to just mute folks in that category for a bit, which is the opposite (remove a follower from my content).
blocking isn't harsh on Bluesky; it's a different signal here - it's boundary setting not punishment
you could just ask me zach
I thought it was me!
I love both of you and I’m personally sorry to every individual that follows me
nah, follows are records in the user's repository, and you can't edit their repository. i think there was an issue somewhere about this though, not sure if it will ever happen or if it should happen though. and people could block unfollow requests from other people on their own PDSs in the future so
ah, dang. maybe an unsolvable problem then
No. Folks have been asking for a “soft block” that lets you remove a follower but thus far hasn’t been implemented.
You can block accounts and they will vanish from the follower list you see, but since AT Protocol is open, they can still follow you and see your posts (but not when they are logged in with bsky.app, they need to use a different front end/tool for this).
Now you made every follower think "is it me?"
oops 😅 if you’re asking this question it’s not you!

it wasn’t! 🤗
